Tropical storm eleanor, threatening track for mauritius and reunion.

Moderate tropical storm ELEANOR was named last night by the Mauritius meteorological service. The CMRS trajectory forecast remains threatening for the Réunion/Mauritius sector.

The tropical cyclone stage could be reached by Wednesday/Thursday, before passing as close as possible to the sister islands. The 6th named system of the season System No. 7 therefore reached the moderate tropical storm stage and was named ELEANOR by Mauritius. At 10 p.m., the center of the system was estimated at 765 km north of Reunion, 675 km north of Mauritius and 1000 km northwest of Rodrigues.

Moving east at 17 km/h and maximum gusts at sea estimated at 95 km/h. No change regarding the trajectory forecast. The system is still expected to turn south to south-southwest starting Tuesday. On this course, ELEANOR will transit as close as possible to Saint-Brandon on Wednesday. Subsequently, a passage as close as possible to the sister islands is planned between Thursday evening and Saturday.

No change regarding the intensity forecast. The tropical cyclone stage is still relevant as of Wednesday or Thursday. It is therefore potentially a mature phenomenon which could threaten the greater Mascarenes.
